When UBX Cloud adds team members, we look first for people of great character – because that’s the kind of person most likely to provide the level of customer service we insist on here. Technical background is extremely valuable, of course, but it doesn’t outrank character. Not for us.

And while we have high-character people on multiple continents, we want to take a moment to recognize the exceptional strength and courage of our team members in Caracas, Venezuela in recent months.

Reynaldo Martinez (also known as Grandpa Internet) and Richard Dulcey comprise our Caracas operation. They’ve done amazing things for us and for our clients – never more so than when Grandpa Internet played such a critical role in our installation of Open Stack.

Reynaldo and Richard fit so seamlessly into our team, we often forget they’re a continent away. That’s how responsive and dedicated they are to anything our clients need.

And we thought we should take a moment to recognize how much they’ve had to deal with over the course of this year. Venezuela has faced both political upheaval and a massive earthquake that has brought unprecedented challenges to the entire nation. While much progress has been made on the post-earthquake rebuilding, the repercussions of both events impact the people there every day.

And yet Reynaldo and Richard keep showing up, keep responding, keep solving problems and keep showing their expertise and their dedication. We know it hasn’t been the easiest time in Caracas, but it hasn’t once kept them from giving us their best.

We want our clients to know that the people in Venezuela are courageous and resilient, and we’re especially proud of our team members there.

Mad respect to them!
