UBX Cloud

Anthony Elias’s official title at UBX Cloud is Director of Global Sales. His more realistic title might as well be Director of Making Sure Everyone Is OK and Everything Gets Done and Done Right.

It’s a good example of the principle in business that it’s not a title that makes someone a leader – it’s leading.

Anthony joined UBX Cloud in late 2022 after spending a day helping UBX Cloud partners Steve Panovski and Igor Petrovski moving some things around the data center. Anthony was working for AT&T at the time, and it didn’t take much exposure to UBX Cloud to inspire him to ask:

“Do you guys need help? I would rather help you guys.”

The company needed someone to oversee sales activity including new, channel or partner wise. Things appeared set in operations and HR, but over the course of time, Anthony proved adept and handling those functions as well – to the point where the company is now open to adding a sales director so Anthony can focus on “everything else.”

And Anthony will take that all day long if it means he gets to be part of the UBX Cloud culture – something he gladly contrasts with previous, more corporate experiences.

“When I worked at AT&T I jumped between being a retail manager and the business end, which is corporate sales,” Anthony says. “It’s kind of what this is, but working here has confirmed the fact that my position is to lead and teach. It’s something I liked at AT&T and have really confirmed here.”

Anthony is entering his 20th year in the professional world, and is discovering a new level of love for helping his colleagues in an office setting.

“I love to work with this company’s employees, talk to them, deal with their stuff and on top of that working with the new sales,” he says. “Potentially bringing these people over to UBX and working through the whole relationship game – it’s shown me a new side of the world. Tech sales is very different from any other kind of sales.”

Those differences have challenged Anthony to learn the nuances of tech, and he credits UBX Cloud President Steve Panovski for showing him how to approach this most unique discipline.

“Learning from Steve, my sales strategy has always been to know the product through and through,” Anthony says. “We do have products and they can be customized in any way you want, which is dope, and it’s why this company is so cool. It’s not just one solution. We can do many solutions off just one product. I’ve learned all that from Steve, which is an experience, because his brain is something different. You’d be dumb not to want to listen to him or learn from him.”

Seeing how the company’s leaders and his teammates invest in the company and in each other, Anthony finds himself that much more motivated to give his best for his fellow team members and UBX’s clients.

“They make you really want to invest in the company and make you feel like it’s yours,” Anthony says. “There isn’t just a drive to do your job well. The drive is the thought, ‘This is my company.’ I want this company to grow because as it grows, I grow.”

Outside of work, Anthony describes himself as a family man who loves hanging out with his nieces and nephews – as well as his “gorgeous girlfriend that I’ll one day get married to.”

“My biggest attribute is my people skills, which I’ve come around to gassing myself about,” he says. “And being able to talk and meet new people outside the work ethic is something I love to do. My girlfriend tells me all the time that I talk to the most random people – just learning about people.”

Sort of like what leaders do.
